Prunus padus (Bird Cherry) is a native deciduous tree, produces white - almond scented - flowers in late spring followed by black fruit which attracts the birds. It has dark green foliage which turns yellow and red in the autumn. Makes a nice specimen tree. Tolerant of most soils. Grows 2-3 feet a year as a young tree.
