Carpinus betulus (Hornbeam) has soft green leaves turn bronze in autumn and are kept throughout the winter. One of the best hedging plants for heavy soils. Tolerant to shady and moist positions. Several sizes available.

For a thicker hedge, plant a staggered double row, 6 plants to the metre.
