Crataegus monogyna (Hawhtorn or Quickthorn) is a native bushy shrub or small tree, dense twiggy habit. Fragrant white flowers in May. Red fruits in Autumn. Makes an excellent hedge that can be trimmed to size and shape as required. It will make a fine hedge on its own but it is usually planted as the main plant in mixed native hedges.

For a thicker hedge, plant a staggered double row, 6 plants to the metre.
