(Portuguese Laurel)
Prunus lusitanica Angustifolia (Portuguese Laurel) is a dense evergreen shrub with glossy dark green pointed leaves on red stalks. Slender spikes of small white flowers in early summer on untrimmed mature plants followed by deep purple egg shaped fruits in the autumn. Makes a good dense hedge. Grows to 4-5m but can be trimmed to make a fine hedge from 1.2m up to 3m. Excellent in exposed, shady and chalky areas.
